Carolyn Callender, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC, is a nurse practitioner with New York Spine Institute (NYSI). She works out of NYSI’s Westbury Headquarters and regularly assists patients with pre-surgical and post-surgical treatments, diagnosing test results and treatment options and conducting general exams. With an empathetic approach to care, Callender builds rapport and relationships with patients and families.
Prior to joining NYSI, Carolyn was a Family Nurse Practitioner at Cornerstone Medical Arts Center in Kew Gardens, NY and Oak Street Health in Brooklyn. Carolyn was inspired to become a nurse after an internship with a women’s health clinic. After speaking with multiple family members who are nurses, doctors and surgeons, she applied and was accepted to nursing school. Today she enjoys working with patients in restoring their health, mobility and living pain-free.
Carolyn received her bachelor’s of science in nursing from The College of New Rochelle and then received her Master of Science in Nursing – Family Nurse Practitioner from Frontier Nursing University in Hyden, KY. She also has an American Nurses Credentialing Center Family Nurse Practitioner certification, New York State Registered Professional Nurse License, New York State Nurse Practitioner in Family Health License and Drug Enforcement Administration Controlled Substance Registration certification.
