For those patients whose treatment plan includes surgery, physical therapy and rehabilitation is an important component of your post-surgery protocol. All types of surgeries require physical therapy, even the most minimally invasive surgeries. PT helps patients with movement and mobility, decreases pain, restores function, and limits disability in individuals with injuries or impairments.*
Michael Friar, D.P.T., who leads our physical therapy department provides all types of physical therapy treatments, some of which include proper stretching, exercise, and manual therapy. His goal is to help patients improve their health, by familiarizing them with their own body mechanics and postural awareness, as well as offering instruction on how to perform home exercises which, over time, will contribute to their healing and help to avoid any further injuries.
PT treatment involves a combination of cardio and weight machines to help target strength and endurance training for those patients participating in physical therapy. One of our licensed physical therapists will evaluate and assess you before you can begin a PT program and the completed assessment will assist your doctor in determining current functioning levels, pain thresholds and physical restrictions that may affect daily activities. Once the evaluation process has been completed, Michael Friar, D.P.T., along with your doctors, will design and develop a PT treatment plan specific to your individual health goals.
