IMAGING SERVICES FOR WEST ISLIP PATIENTS

The radiology department here at the NYSI is state of the art and includes a high field short bore 1.5T Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) system which is effective in diagnosing many conditions and supports a wide range of clinical applications including, but not limited to, MRIs of the spine, brain, abdomen, pelvis, shoulder, hip, knee, elbow, wrist, hand, ankle and foot*. The system is safe and noninvasive, and provides patients with comfortable treatments. Our new GE 1.5T MRI system provides back doctors with high quality, detailed pictures of anatomy and pathology they need in their efforts to help evaluate a wide range of musculoskeletal disorders.

Utilizing magnetism and radio waves the MRI system produces detailed images that doctors can use to evaluate various parts of the body and determine the presence of certain diseases which may not be visible with other imaging methods such as x-ray, ultrasound or CT (Computed Tomography).* The system is an effective device that provides our team with critical information and pictures they need to analyze, diagnose and assess a wide range of disorders.

The radiology department here at the NYSI is also equipped with a digital radiography department that is used to capture digital images that radiologists use to analyze bone and soft tissue anatomy for diagnosis. Additional equipment within our radiology department includes Long Length Imaging (LLI) for proper scoliosis assessment as well.
