When surgery is a necessary option, physical therapy and rehabilitation are an important part of the post-surgery protocol. Even the most minimally invasive surgeries require some level of physical therapy, which greatly helps with movement and mobility, decreases pain, restores function, and limits disability in individuals with injuries or impairments. *
Michael Friar, D.P.T., a highly skilled and educated physical therapist here at the NYSI is is on hand to provide all types of physical therapy treatments, some of which include proper stretching, exercise, and manual therapy. His goal is to help patients improve their health, by familiarizing them with their own body mechanics and postural awareness, as well as offering instruction on how to perform home exercises which, over time, will contribute to their healing and help to avoid a reinjury.
At our clinic serving Wantagh, we combine the use of cardio and weight machines to help target strength and endurance training for those patients participating in physical therapy. One of our licensed physical therapists will evaluate and assess you before you can begin a PT program. This assessment assists doctors in determining current functioning levels, pain thresholds and physical restrictions that may affect daily activities. Once the evaluation process has been completed, Michael Friar, D.P.T., will design and develop a treatment plan specific to your individual health goals.
