Michael Friar, DPT joins New York Spine Institute as staff Physical Therapist. Born and raised in Nassau County, NY, Michael holds both a Bachelors in Healthcare Management, 05′ and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy, 08′ from Stony Brook University.
Michael comes to us with 8 years of clinical experience working in an outpatient orthopedic setting in Huntington and Smithtown, NY. During his tenure, he focused primarily on orthopedic injury, neurological involvement, and sports rehabilitation; including both surgical and non-surgical casework, from head to toe.
Continuing education and specialization is a passion of Michael’s, having completed an array of coursework over the years. Such studies have shaped him into the clinician he is today and led him to shift his focus primarily to that of spinal care. Most notably, Michael has completed The McKenzie Method of Mechanical Diagnosis and therapy courses A-D. He is currently preparing for certification. Mike believes strongly in the importance of clinical education and mentorship, frequently capitalizing on opportunities to work with and train new clinicians in a concerted effort to better provide the local community with the highest level of care possible.
